At Carbon Sense, environmental sustainability is fundamental to who we are and how we operate. As a UK-based carbon and sustainability consultancy, we recognise that our responsibility extends beyond regulatory compliance. We aim to demonstrate leadership through transparent reporting, continuous improvement, and practical action that supports the transition to a low-carbon economy.
We apply the principle of “Nature in the Boardroom”, ensuring that environmental and social considerations are integrated into business decision-making alongside financial performance. Sustainability is not treated as a separate agenda; it is embedded across our operations, our governance, and the services we deliver to clients.
Carbon Sense is committed to measuring, managing and reducing our environmental impact, while supporting organisations across the UK to do the same through robust carbon measurement, credible reduction strategies and evidence-based sustainability advice.
This Environmental Sustainability Statement is supported by our internal policies and management processes, which aim to minimise environmental impact, protect natural resources and support the long-term transition to a Net Zero economy.
We believe that credible sustainability requires measurement, transparency and practical action. By applying these principles within our own organisation, we aim to demonstrate the same standards we encourage in our client work.
Through our consultancy services, Carbon Sense supports organisations to:
The transition to a low-carbon economy presents both challenges and opportunities. Carbon Sense is committed to playing a constructive role in that transition by continuously improving our own environmental performance and helping organisations make informed, responsible decisions.
By embedding sustainability into our governance, operations and client services, we aim to demonstrate that responsible business can drive positive environmental impact while delivering long-term value for clients, communities and future generations.
At Carbon Sense, we believe in leading by example. Our Carbon Footprint Report provides a transparent view of our operational emissions across Scopes 1, 2 and 3, helping us understand where our environmental impact lies and how we can most effectively reduce it.
Our Carbon Reduction Plan sets out clear, measurable actions to cut emissions year-on-year through smarter energy use, low-carbon travel, responsible procurement, and digital efficiency. We are committed to achieving Net Zero by 2030, and supporting our clients to do the same through practical, data-driven carbon management.

Our Offsetting Strategy 2025/2026
At Carbon Sense, we follow a reduction first approach. We measure our impact accurately, take clear steps to cut emissions, and only use offsets to balance what we cannot yet eliminate. This year, we have gone further by removing more carbon than we emit, reflecting our commitment to genuine climate responsibility. We are also proud to continue our support for Plant One, a Community Interest Company restoring native woodland across Cornwall and Devon. Their work expands local tree cover, rebuilds habitats, improves biodiversity and strengthens natural resilience across the region.
Our support for Plant One reflects our commitment not only to global climate action but also to local nature recovery and community benefit.
Our 2024/2025 Footprint Removal Commitment
Our operational carbon footprint for 2024/2025 is 9.3tCO₂e. and to demonstrate meaningful leadership, we have chosen to remove over double our emissions, officially offsetting 20tCO₂e through a high-quality, verified nature-based project. This positions Carbon Sense as a net-positive organisation, contributing more to global carbon removal than we generate.

For 2024/25 we selected the Reforestation Grouped Project Norteak (Nicaragua), a verified nature-based project focused on restoring forest landscapes and removing carbon through long-term tree growth and regeneration.
Norteak Group is a sustainable forestry initiative in Nicaragua managing over 3,500 hectares across reforested and protected areas. It focuses on teak and native-species plantations to capture carbon, restore degraded land, and supply sustainably managed timber, while protecting 120 hectares of rainforest and supporting biodiversity through FSC , VERRA and CCB-certified practices.
Beyond timber-and-carbon, Norteak plays a pivotal role in local communities, training hundreds of workers, creating stable employment, investing in infrastructure, and promoting inclusive, sustainable development in rural regions. Projects such as these are a proven method to deliver positive outcomes for communities, while also
protecting or restoring ecosystem functioning and supporting
biodiversity.
By supporting this project, we are contributing to:
This project provides real, permanent carbon removal, aligned with best-practice offsetting principles.
